Here at #The5thPour we care about you. Truthfully. Of course we want you to come #drink with us! We want #The5thPour to be a place of fun! But, we also want to promote a safe and healthy drinking environment. In order to do that, we want to open the conversation about drinking and alcohol. We want to allow a space for conversation and dialogue without components of shame or guilt.

Before we get any further, we want to acknowledge the seriousness of alcoholism and addiction. These are serious, addictive behaviors that often lead to dependency on alcohol. Alcoholism is a disorder. The following tips and tricks might be able to help all individuals, but if you are either a current or recovering alcoholic, please seek professional help.

Below, we have gathered some fun ways to be #safe with drinking. Whether you're out with friends, family, or having a drink after a long day at work, it is always important to be aware of your limits, and how you can be #safe. Because most of our customers are (21+) college students, we want to highlight the importance #SafeDrinking! These are great habits to form now as you continue to get older and are around alcohol in a more casual setting.

Also please remember, in the United States, it is illegal to drink if you are under 21. At #The5thPour, we will always make sure to ID our customers. However, once you turn of age, come pour one out with us! You too can be safe and responsible and help those around you.

Without further ado, please enjoy the following gallery with tips and tricks for how to #DrinkSafely! Please drink responsibly!

#1. Drink water!

This is probably one of the easiest tips to remember. Try matching every #drink with one glass of water! Trust us... you'll thank us in the morning.

#2. Know your limits.

If you haven't drank alcohol before, try using different charts to gage your body weight and alcohol consumption. If anything, remember to be #safe rather than #sorry.

#3. Keep it social!

When you choose to drink, try being with friends and family! Drinking alone can lead to negative behaviors and associations with alcohol. Plus then you'll have friends to talk to and help if necessary!

#4. Plan an activity besides drinking.

When you're planning an activity with your friends, try planning a dinner or a game night! Don't just get together to #drink. Plus... food!

#5. Avoid late night drinking.

Not only will your body be upset the next morning, but drinking earlier allows you time to rest and almost guarantees you'll be able to find a ride home.

#6. Remember to eat!

Food is important! And #delicious! Food helps your body absorb the alcohol and give you nutrients to enjoy the #NightOut!

#7. Find a ride home.

Under no circumstance should you ever #Drink and drive. Use Uber, Lyft, a taxi, or ask a friend. Your safety and other's safety is of utmost importance.

Be #safe out there! We'll see you next time!
